Toronto Wigs: How to Keep Your Wig Looking Its Best

You went out and bought a beautiful wig (hopefully from us!). It looks great, feels great, you love it. Now how do you protect your investment and make your wig last? Caring for your wig properly is essential to keep it looking good. First of all you should wash your wig once a week. The hair strands need to be clean and not weighed down for a wig to resemble natural healthy hair. You should wash your wig in the evening and allow it to air dry overnight on a wig stand that will help it keep its shape and avoid tangling. And I can't stress this enough - you must use professional wig care products (shampoo, conditioner and hair sprays) specifically designed for the type of wig you have (synthetic, human hair or a blend). Human hair wigs will also require daily styling as you would with your own natural hair.

If you have a synthetic wig you must avoid exposing your wig to extreme heat. The following heat sources have the potential to ruin your wig.

•steam from a hot dishwasher
•stovetop
•the oven
•the barbeque
•the fireplace
