A woman's self-image is often tied up in her hairstyle, and having a bad hair day can make you not even want to leave the house. So what happens when, for no reason apparent to you, your hair starts to fall out? Many people think hair loss is a male problem, but the fact is up to 40% of people facing hair loss are women (according to the American Hair Loss Association). If you notice your hair coming out in clumps, the first thing you need to do is see a doctor. There can be many causes of hair loss, such as hormonal imbalance or an autoimmune disease such as Alopecia. Your doctor can perform blood tests to determine the cause of your hair loss and hopefully help you treat the problem. Or, the problem could be scalp irritation from wearing tight ponytails or cornrows or using extremely hot rollers. Dying and processing can also cause hair to fall out. A wig is an excellent solution for all the hair loss scenarios mentioned here. Women tend to lose hair on the top and back of the head, areas easily covered by a wig.
